About Us
What is The Empowerment Project?
The Empowerment Project is a science based mindfulness program running a variety of workshops & seminars for workplaces, schools and parents. Our programs are practical and presented in a way that individuals can relate and utilize in any aspect of life. The foundation of our training is in growth mindset where mindfulness techniques are utilized to enhance the hard skills of any business.
Working extensively in corporate and educational facilities for a combined 20 years, we have compiled knowledge from our own training, as well as extensive research that focuses on personal and professional stress. Coping with stress is the epicenter of this program.
The Empowerment Project hopes that organizations will invest in the health and well-being of their employees, resulting in not only personal growth but corporate cultural excellence.
Dr. Shar Rai, BA Psych, is a practicing Chiropractor in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and a graduate of the psychology program at Queen’s University in 1995 and the National College of Chiropractic in 1999. She has been developing workplace wellness programs for many business sectors, including not-for-profit, engineering, consumer packaged goods, technology, and automotive for the past 13 years. She has spent an extensive amount of time treating patients on site and educating employees on managing themselves and taking responsibility for their contribution to the workspace. Her passion has always been to empower others to become their best selves. Dr. Shar’s experience in corporate environments and multidisciplinary settings makes her an expert with a unique perspective on corporate wellness and personal empowerment. She has recently attained her Reiki Mastery qualifications.
Andrea Bosco RYT BA, is a mindfulness expert and a Certified Yoga Instructor. After 11 years as a marketing professional, Andrea relaunched her career into the wellness field. She is the owner of Gateway Yoga and runs classes, workshops and retreats throughout the Greater Toronto Area in schools and workplaces. She has been studying mindfulness and yoga for more than 16 years and completed her RYT 200-hour training in 2012 and her Meditation & Relaxation Specialist certification in 2019 at East to West Yoga in Toronto. She has worked extensively with students, teachers, athletes and corporate employees, empowering individuals and providing stress management tools that they can apply to their everyday life.

Children are bright and curious. Within an elementary school setting, The Empowerment Project is designed to provide research and insights for students to build a foundation of self-awareness and self-regulation. Their ability to learn healthy mindset habits is not the challenge; it’s their “Why”. Our elementary school program fosters children’s curiosity. Children are taught how certain tools and techniques effect their brain, the way they feel and ultimately how they behave. They are taught to understand the power of choosing their thoughts, words, actions and how to utilize them to build self-confidence and a healthy self-esteem. Teaching them about the brain and engaging them in interactive activities has been the key success of this program.

Highschool - SHSM or Experiential Learing Programs
We believe that mastering your mental state is the greatest gift you can give yourself. In high schools, The Empowerment Project focuses on exploring emotional intelligence which includes; self-awareness, managing your own behviours, empathy and people/social skills. We want our students to understand that EI is an “inside out” approach. By teaching the science of brain function and the physiological effects of expressing, gratitude, kindness, forgiveness, (just to name a few), students are taught how these human skills are essential in enhancing future roles in; leadership, customer service, conflict resolution, behavior management, group dynamics, and stress management. Ultimately it reinforces self-confidence and the ability to make healthy choices. The Empowerment Project program is customized to meet the requirements for the SHSM electives.

Teacher Programs
The Empowerment Projects prides itself in teaching mindfulness techniques that can be universally learned and adapted. We have created a Professional Activity Day program for teachers to assist them in implementing tools and techniques within their own classrooms and their own daily lives, with science as the foundation. Whether it is a JK or Grade 12 class, the delivery is adjusted to suit specific age groups.

Parent Programs
Parental engagement is the foundation to any child’s success. Since children spend a majority of their day with teachers and classmates, The Empowerment Project has created a bridging program to keep our parents involved with what their children are learning at school. We have found that reinforcing the tools and techniques taught through our program and implementing them at home as well, increases the chances of our children utilizing these tools throughout life. Remarkably, parents benefit from learning these tools too!

Building a Mindfulness Practice for Thriving in the Workplace Course

Reiki- The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
